80136 RETURNS TO CREWE
11th November 2005
By the 15th November all the superheater elements had been removed and the smoke box emptied out in preparation for removing the small tubes.
After arrival the locomotive was slowly allowed to drop down under gravity, carefully controlled from the road vehicle by means of a winch.
Derailing is easy at this stage so a careful watch was kept.
Safely on solid ground.
80136 was moved away from the trailer by the works shunter.
50 years old next year!
The engine returned from The West Somerset Railway in beautiful condition with the cylinder end covers polished and.......
.....all the copper work burnished. A great credit to a highly successful railway.
