68030 GALLERY 26th February 2002

Repainting of 68030 is now under way at the London & North Western Railway Company workshops at Crewe. My grateful thanks go to Stephen Latham and Philip Oldfield for their assistance in allowing these photographs to record the event. These workshops are industrial premises and are not open to the public, please do not trespass.

The pristine controls waiting for action.

The contrasting light conditions were virtually impossible on this occasion because the windows were directly behind the locomotive and the sun was very bright. This time PC weaselling was not enough.

The extra steps (as per LNER design and not the aluminium ones) had been attached by Roger Spencer together with an angled grab handle on the saddle tank.

The welds were then dressed while Roger addressed the other side. The angled hand rail can just be seen on the tank side.
